Nicola Duffin to present at Flame Conference
As part of the small scale LNG stream, Nicola will be presenting on the challenges the terminal has faced in order to respond to the growing demand in small scale LNG and the innovative solution that the terminal has identified enabling Grain LNG to provide a cost effective solution to the market.
Recent regulatory and market developments have unlocked a new service requirement to load LNG onto small-scale vessels below 40,000m3 in size to supply an emerging downstream LNG bunkering and off-grid market from the terminal. Over the last 12 months, Grain LNG has been assessing the technical options available in order to deliver this service to our customers and stimulate the use of LNG in the new market sectors.
A number of challenges were identified when berthing small-scales vessels ranging from 1000m3 to 40,000m3 directly onto the existing jetty facilities, including the significant tidal range in the river Medway (6m), which was outside the range of the Jetty Arms, the position and the type of berthing fenders market and the manifold positions on the small-scale vessels.
This session at Flame provides details of the options that were considered, evaluation criteria applied and details of the innovative solution that has been identified which will accommodate this new service.
